Entertainment-style Christianity
vs. Interactive-style Christianity
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

Today, in a majority of churches, we see the result of the seeker-friendly, "purpose-driven", church  growth, Third Wave, New Apostolic Reformation methods and teachings and their product I am calling "Entertainment-style Christianity" (ESC).  But ESC churches are not only missing out on the cutting edge of true Christianity, but are heading down the road to apostasy.
True biblical Christianity is "interactive".  Those in ESC are taught to be spectators at mega-church entertainment events.  They are not taught the Bible but rather to be enamored with the oratorical skills of the preacher, and to not dare question anything that is shoved down the throats of the "laity" by the ruling "anointed" elite.  They are treated to a circus atmosphere including wild CCM music with people flailing around and acting like they are on drugs, to preachers who tell endless stories about themselves and joke about everything while actually making profundity mundane, to hula dancing, to banners and marching in the church and around it, to the blowing of shofars, to slain in the spirit and wild manifestations.  Theirs ears are tickled by guest speakers who make up sermons out of their own imaginations instead of the written Word.  They are entertained with gold dust, gold fillings, "angel" feathers, "angel" footprints, drunk in the spirit antics, and during these displays they can go out and get a latte and a snack at the church snack bar.  They come into these mega churches and leave without being personally challenged other than with tired worldly psychology, and without anyone being able to find out what they are doing in their private lives.  A small percentage attend "cell groups" where they are diapraxed into consensus instead of challenged to be Bereans and think and act for themselves.  They live like the world during the week, then come to church where the world is not only welcomed but accommodated.

RTN PROMO
by Gary Gilley, 1/13/21 Think On These Things

It has proven almost impossible for the Church to keep the biblical command of the Great Commission in balance with the Cultural Mandate, once such a mandate is accepted as part of the mission of the Church. Those  following  this  philosophy would abandon the Christ-given mission of making disciples for the task of improving society. Those churches and Christians who saw the error of the social gospel continued to center their lives and ministries on the Great
Commission. It is the descendants of these very churches and believers who are now being influenced to widen their understanding of the calling of Christ to include a social improving agenda. Unless there is a return to the biblical mandate given in the New Testament, the evangelical Church is in danger of repeating the same error of the 19th and 20th century Church with  predictable results.

Agnes Sanford and her Unbiblical Inner Healing method's
by Mike Oppenheimer, 1/16/21 Let Us Reason

Certain people have a great influence in the era of modern Christianity, some are not a good influence. One of them is Agnes Sanford. She was born in 1897, the daughter of a Presbyterian missionary in China, and the wife of an Episcopal rector. She is considered to be one of the principal founders of the inner healing movement and one of the more influential shapers of the modern charismatic movement. She introduced to the body of Christ numerous non-Christian teachings, philosophies into the Church through the 1960's to about 1980, and though she is gone she is still is an influence today. She was also a promoter of the Manifest sons of God heresy found in the Latter Rain movement by William Branham. She wrote many books in her religious career, you can literally find the same ideas she wrote of in mystical and new age literature that has been written prior. Sanford is most known by her first book, "The Healing Light", ( old over half a million copies since 1947 when it was originally published), and ending with her last book, "The Healing Gifts of the Spirit" which contained a mixture of metaphysical concepts and Mind Science. She included an endorsement in the front of her last book "The Healing Gifts of the Spirit" by "The American Theosophist." They wrote: "... an inspiring handbook for developing one's own capabilities for richer living and giving ." Theosophists are Spiritist's who are part of the New Age Movement, they are not a good endorsement. She believed what we hear from so many others today, that Christians today should do the same miracles that Jesus did ( Sealed Orders, pp. 13, 26).No doubt many who say this have read her books.

by Lighthouse Trails, 1/17/21 LT Publishing

For many years, Lighthouse Trails has tried to warn the church about evangelical publishing houses that are releasing countless materials which promote and teach contemplative spirituality. One of the publishing companies that is at the forefront of this effort to bring the New Age/new spirituality practice of contemplative prayer into the church is InterVarsity Press which has a particular focus on young evangelicals. In light of this, our concerns have only heightened upon learning of InterVarsity's "2030 Calling," especially when we consider how contemplative spirituality is one of the most robust vehicles that lead young evangelicals into an anti-biblical, anti-moral, "progressive," pro-emergent outlook. What is Contemplative Prayer? For those unfamiliar with the term "contemplative prayer," it is a mystical prayer practice which uses repetition of a word or phrase to enter the "silence," "stillness," or so-called "sacred space" in order to, supposedly, hear the voice of God. In fact, contemplative proponents like Beth Moore say you cannot even be close to God without this inner stillness. However, as author and researcher Ray Yungen points out, it is a great deception for Christians to believe this is a safe and legitimate method of communing with God, and no where in Scripture are we admonished to do this. In actuality, though one's intent may be to seek the Lord, practicing something that is virtually identical in method to eastern meditation practices such as Transcendental Meditation is dangerous and will get the same result as TM practitioners-and that is to reach a spiritually demonic realm. And as Yungen explains, the "fruit" of practicing contemplative prayer is interspirituality (all paths lead to God), panentheism (God is in all), and universalism (all are saved).
