Dominionism!
by Dr. Orrel Steinkamp & Sandy Simpson
The title and cover art of this work are a play off of the book by C. Peter Wagner entitled ""Dominion! How Kingdom Action Can Change The World".  In contrast to this specious claim we have titled this book "Dominionism! How Unbiblical Action Can Change The Churches".  We think that is far more in keeping with what we will present in this series of articles and essays on the subject of Kingdom Now/Dominionism.
Indeed, many churches have already been changed by accepting the false teachings that constitute Dominionism.  This started decades ago under Reformed Reconstrucionism and Latter Rain theology, but even before that in the Roman Catholic Church (RCC).  The attempt of Constantine to protect Christians from being persecuted, since he claimed he had become one of them, turned out to begin a journey in syncretism and Dominion.  It wasn't long before corrupt church officials began to try to seize power all over Europe and beyond as the "Holy Roman Empire".  The Reformation itself was a reaction to the lengths to which the RCC had gone to take control over the Scriptures, the nations, the kingdoms, and the people for financial gain.  They sold indulgences, promising those who came up with enough money a much shorter time in Purgatory.  Those same ploys are being used today on what has been loosely called "Christian television" by the sale of trinkets and promises of healing, financial gain and even salvation.
These ideas all coalesce in Dominionism.  If it were true that the Church needs to take over the planet, then we would be seeing the unstoppable plans of God's physical Kingdom unfolding.  But we do not.  All we see are failed prophecies, empty edicts and declarations coming from false apostles and false prophets.  They love to fool Christians with talk of the "kingdom" when it is clear they are talking about a different "kingdom"; a Kingdom Now not a Kingdom come.  Jesus taught us to pray: "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven".  The implication is that we are to be about building His spiritual Kingdom while praying for and expecting His physical Kingdom to come.  The only way we can do that is to continue in the Great Commission till He comes, not attempt to rule where God has not given the Church the authority to rule.  Jesus will do that when He returns.  If we go off on the tangent the Dominionists want us to go, we will not only miss out on the blessings of His Kingdom to come, but may well be deserving of judgment.
This book is online and available as a download at this time for $15.  The printed version will be available in about a month and will be $20. each.

Popular Christian Magazine - RELEVANT - Tells Millennials to Practice Breath Prayers and Mindfulness Meditation
at Lighthouse Trails, 9/17/18

A summer 2018 Relevant Magazine article titled "Why Learning to Breathe May Be the Best Way to Pray,"  tells readers that, "Breath prayer [are] an ancient Christian prayer practice with origins in the lives of the Desert Fathers and Mothers, is a vehicle we can use to live out Scripture's call to "pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17) . . .  Breath prayer offers stressed-out Christians a simple way to respond to stress by turning our attention to the presence of God and reaching out to Him for grace." Relevant Magazine* is listed on the Lighthouse Trails "50 Top Contemplative-Promoting Organizations" and has a long history of promoting contemplative prayer.

Rob Bell's 'Love Wins' Revealed 'Startling' Multitudes of People Backing Universalism
at Understand the Times, 9/21/18 Understanding The Times

A modern Christianity professor and author who opposes universalism admitted that he was "startled" by how many people came out supporting the belief following Rob Bell's 2011 book, Love Wins. Michael McClymond, the author of The Devil's Redemption: A New History and Interpretation of Christian Universalism, said in an interview with The Gospel Coalition posted last week that ever since he was a student he has been engaged with biblical studies on the topic of salvation. "Several years ago what really surprised me was not Rob Bell's book, Love Wins (2011), with its well-worn and hackneyed arguments. Instead, I was startled by the multitude of people I thereafter encountered holding that universalism was biblical and evangelical teaching," said McClymond, who teaches at Saint Louis University in Missouri.

Some Thoughts Worth Considering on "Pub Theology"
by Larry DeBruyn, 9/25/18

First, Pub Theology is not church. If it is, then where's the reading of Scripture, the apostles' teaching, prayer and observance of the Lord's Table? (Acts 2:42) But on this point, we can be certain that the band will avoid any impression of being too "churchy or preachy." But beer steins are no substitute for communion cups. In fact, to the true church, the apostle Peter announced that, "the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries" (1 Peter 4:3). Second, Pub Theology is not theology. Reportedly, the band's opening song was Joan Osborne's one-hit wonder, "What if God was one of us?" The lyrics add, "Just a slob like one of us."[2] Imagine . . . God being a slob like the rest of the inebriated crowd at the bar. Given such a humanizing of God, what we're dealing with is not Pub Theology, but pub idolatry. "And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things" (Romans 1:23). Do you think Joan Osborne's lyrical questions in any way resemble or affirm the great Christological passages of the New Testament? (John 1:1 ff.; Colossians 1:15-17; Philippians 2:5-11). By the way, these cited passages are comprised of theological statements extracted from early Christian hymns. Would the pub theology band sing them? I'd think they'd estimate that the lyrics of these biblical hymns are far too dogmatic, stodgy, and preachy for the "boys" at the bar! Third, Pub Theology is not Christian outreach. To attain a "spiritual" end, it employs carnal, fleshly, and worldly means. But the apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" (Ephesians 5:18-19). If the song "What if God was one of us?" gives any indication, probably none of the other music the band plays includes "psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs."
