Finish The Race!
A Study On Christian Maturity
by Sandy Simpson & Juanita Simpson

This book was written to help believers to realize the absolute necessity of growing to maturity in Christ. It contains chapters on a variety of topics that apply to the subject of maturing from infancy to adulthood in the Lord. What many believers today do not realize is that the Bible teaches that growth in Christ is directly tied to learning to discern truth from error, good from evil. Since this is the emphasis the Word of God gives to the subject, Christians ought to be busy being Bereans (Acts 17:11). Yet many churches are urging Christians to push aside discernment in favor of experience. The trendy teaching these days is that matters of doctrine are not as important as how one feels. Jesus Christ and the foundational Apostles made it clear that a Christian must grow to maturity or be in danger of being deceived.  When carnal desires to sin, including following false teachers (James 1:13-16), has grown to full flower this can cause a Christian to shipwreck his faith (1 Tim. 1:19).
It is our hope that this book will inspire many believers to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith (2 Tim. 4:7).

LTRP Note: We are posting this, not to single out Calvary Chapel as this is a problem in most denominations today, but rather to once again illustrate why discerning Christians (like many of you who read LT) are having such a hard time in their efforts to warn the church about spiritual deception and apostasy.

God Took Me by the Hand: A story of God's Unusual Providence
by Jerry Bridges Think On These Things
Reveiwed by Gary Gilley

I believe that Bridges is mistaken concerning this extrabiblical understanding of the Lord's leading, and I am especially bothered by his poor hermeneutics and subsequent misuse of Scripture in an attempt to support his views, so much so I would be hard-pressed to recommend this book.  But that Jerry Bridges faithfully served Christ and was mightily used of the Lord is not questioned.  I loved the man, and have deeply appreciated many of his writings, but the mysticism as found in this volume is disturbing and potentially misleading.

Evangelical Support for Israel Declining, Especially Among Millennials: Survey
at Understand the Times, 12/15/17 Understanding The Times

Comment from UTT: It should be no surprise that support for Israel by the younger millennial generation is on the decrease. This goes along with the statistics showing that fewer younger evangelicals actually believe the Bible is the word of God. Propaganda from the world and church that has embraced replacement theology has played an important role in this phenomenon.

The 'Christian' Tarot card controversy at Bethel Redding
by Holly Pivec, 12/17/17 Spirit of Error

There's been controversy in recent days, after a few Christian sites-including Pulpit & Pen and ChurchWatchCentral-reported that people associated with Bethel Church in Redding, Calif., and others who are part of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) have been using "Christian" Tarot cards, called "Destiny Cards." One couple, in particular, was identified as promoting the use of these cards-Ken and Jenny Hodge. The Hodges lead an Australian organization called Christalignment, which takes teams of undercover Christians to New Age festivals. These teams set up booths, that look like psychic booths, and seek to evangelize New Agers by offering Christianized versions of psychic services. Their services include "Destiny Card" readings, modeled after Tarot cards. The Hodges report that many former students from Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry have joined them in offering these card readings. In response to these reports, Kris Vallotton-a senior associate leader at Bethel Church and co-founder of Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry-wrote a lengthy post on Facebook condemning the use of these cards and urging anyone using them to "repent." He insinuated that the use of such cards by any Bethel graduates would be a misapplication of Bethel teachings. Sounds good, right? A prominent NAR leader condemns an unbiblical practice. Not so fast.
