We need a firm foundation to weather the storm of false ideas
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. (KJV)
Matthew 7:24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
© 1787 Joseph Funk & Robert Keene

A house built on the rock will stand.  The Rock is God and in particular, Jesus Christ.  Therefore His written Word is the teachings of the His Holy Spirit and a Rock we can depend on.  Anyone who wants to prove anything theologically, historically, scientifically or anything else needs to start with correct information.  If you start with a faulty foundation, as you build your arguments, they begin to fall apart because they are not supported in God"s truth.  If you want to build on a firm foundation, you need to start the process by a careful study of God"s Word in context of the verse and according to the whole counsel of God"s Word.  The Bible is the best commentary on the Bible.

Featured Discernment Ministry

Moriel Ministries

Moriel is an international multi-faceted ministry of Jewish and non-Jewish regenerate believers one in Jesus the Messiah.

Moriel is committed to the evangelization beginning with The Jews but also of people of other faiths including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism,  and theologically deviant expressions of Christendom including Roman Catholicism (which we view as aberrational much as we deem Talmudic Judaism to be likewise largely unscriptural). To this end Moriel plants churches, and operates missions especially among impoverished children in the Third World. While mainly rejecting the later midrashic writings of the rabbis, Moriel is also a teaching ministry seeking to exegetically interpret scripture with the Judeo-Christian hermeneutic of the apostolic  church including the midrashic exegesis used by Jesus and Paul (midrash is a term found multiple times in the Tenak or Old Testament).

Lastly, Moriel is active in the area of discernment withstanding the popular apostasy in the contemporary church that The Word of God warns would precede the return of Jesus. We remain firmly aligned to the conviction that contemporary events in The Middle East , Europe, and in the church make the present time in history different from other eras when people thought it was the last days. We affirm the belief that Jesus is coming again and prophecy of His return is radically being fulfilled increasingly.

Volume 53, Issue 1
Dear Friends,

We are finally moved to our new location in North Carolina.  Unfortunately our container with my products, computers, etc. has not arrived and will likely be hung up till the end of February or longer due to the dock strikes on the West Coast.  Because of that I cannot fulfill any orders for physical materials till our container comes.  Till then I highly suggest that if you want a book, DVD or CD you can choose the download option from the order page.  I am sorry for this delay but there is nothing I can do about it.  The ACT pages will resume being updated sporadically and the newsletters will continue to go out, Lord willing.  Bear with me.  We also need your prayers and support!

Evangelical Feminism is a valuable source. It is well-documented, readable and biblically sound. In understanding and defending the role of women as found in Scripture, this book serves as an excellent guide.

Life Before Death A restored Regenerated and Renewed Life
By Ian Leitch Think On These Things
Reviewed by Gary Gilley

Leitch has been heavily influenced by the Keswick Higher Life Movement (pp. XXI, 34, 118, 129). While most of the book is straight, clear biblical teaching on conversion and spiritual growth, Keswick theology shows up on occasion in out of balanced statements such as, "For years I was told that I had to live for Jesus. That's wrong: He rose from the dead to live for me!" (p. 34)...and those who do not let Christ live His life through them are carnal Christians (pp. 118-123). The Higher Life teachings of "Let Go and Let God" do not hold up in a balanced study of Scripture. However, this is a small part of Leitch's book and unless the reader is aware of the discussion it would go unnoticed. Leitch also leans on the discarded psychological theory of the four basic temperaments (see p. 90) which no one today, secular or Christian, accepts. More importantly, the four temperaments are not found in Scripture.

With these issues aside, overall Life Before Death is a helpful little volume on Christian living.

The Ways of the Alongsider Growing Disciples Life2Life
By Bill Mowry Think On These Things
Reviewed by Gary Gilley

The Ways of the Alongsider is a curious mix of solid discipleship methods, for which the Navigators have long been known, laced with a spiritual formation emphasis, for which Navigators are increasingly being known. For this reason I would recommend the book to those with the discernment to separate the two.

What captured my attention was not the movement!  It was the "mentoring-leadership" shown at high seminary levels of the eventual blending of Catholicism (the late Dr. Chuck Colson spoke at one of D.T.S.'s graduations), temporary "Christian" music, and charismatic leaders into the mix of evangelism, counseling, and music fields including dozens of nationally known evangelicals.  It was not surprising, therefore, to see the very rapid acceptance of marginal Christianity in the leadership of Hybels, Warren, Bright, and now emergent leaders such as Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, and the more extreme theological departures of such leadership. My heart is very saddened with the compromise of the late Howard Hendricks (at one time one of my four favorite teachers at seminary).  I had written to him but was given mild rebuke for being critical of the PK movement.  I filed it away but now see the "rubbed shoulder" philosophy affecting virtually every former evangelical leader including Dr. Erwin Lutzer and others. The purpose of this e-mail is to encourage someone there to put together a booklet that synthesizes these trends into one gradual, but obvious, move into apostate Christianity.
