A number of the false teachings and unbiblical practices in the churches today come from the New Apostolic Reformation under the "apostolic" leadership of C. Peter Wagner. One evidence to that fact is the teaching of the NAR about being "drunk in the spirit". Jim Laffoon, an apostle under Wagner, put it this way: "I mean people say, "How can Dr. Wagner
at his age be with all these weird people. He's been on a fourteen
year drunk. It's the only way to explain it. He's not been
sober for years. ... when you sober up and all of a sudden you're not
cross-eyed,
your pastor doesn't look what you thought, man that person you've been
praying with irritates you and you don't like their personality, you've
got one choice. Get drunk again! And let me tell you
(cheers) if we're going to make it in this hour, if we're going to make
it in this hour, we have got to stay filled with the spirit."

Laffoon goes so far as to teach that Christians cannot get along unless they are slain in the spirit repeatedly and remain "drunk in the spirit". Godless Righteousness in a Brave New World

The tragedy is that this righteousness is a sham and will be found
to be as helpful as Adam and Eve's fig leaves on the day of Judgment. It
may feel good to "be in the right" with the culture - there is no doubt
a certain satisfaction in it. But there is no way that "godless
righteousness"
can heal the troubled conscience. Is this why this generation needs so
much valium? There is no possibility that "godless righteousness" can
take
away the shame of sin, and it certainly will not reconcile anyone to the
true and Holy God.

They
were not drunk as you suppose!

Oftentimes the Pentecostal/charismatic faddish experiences wane
only to surface again with renewed vigor and influence. Take for example
drunk in the Spirit (the close cousin of being slain in the spirit).
This
was first widely promoted by a man from S. Africa, Rodney Howard- Browne
that Benny Hinn promoted at his meeting. It was then brought to Toronto
then to Brownsville and spread everywhere as a spiritual virus with no
inoculation. Looking back at the experiences that have become part of
the
"open church" should immunize us against accepting practices that go
further
than the Biblical parameters allowed. Often the same aberrant practices
come back with even greater intensity when they are permitted again.

"Blasphemizing"

The reason for this article is to detail how some of these Bible
societies are mistranslating the Bible, using the names of false gods
and
substituting them for the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob,
the God of Israel, the "I AM", YHWH, Jehovah. In doing this they
are following the agenda of the WCGIP Leadership endorsed by Don
Richardson
and John Dawson of YWAM, and headed by people like Daniel Kikawa of
Aloha
Ke Akua, Richard Twiss of Wiconi International, Terry LeBlanc of World
Vision Canada, and many other indigenous leaders. This 2006 article shows how the God of the Bible is being substituted for the gods of men by Bible translators in many translations worldwide.

Call them what you will--false teachers/prophets, liberals/progressives, cultists, misinformed, misled, even looney tunes--the one thing they all have in common is that they have strayed from the truth.
