The Role Of Women In The Church
by Sandy Simpson, 7/03

There has been a lot of controversy over the role of women in the Church.  I believe the Bible, taken in the context of the 66 books, has given us all the answers to this dilemma.  The main conflict comes over two passages of Scripture from Paul.  All Scripture needs to be understood in the context of what was said, who is was spoken to, and what the culture was at the time.  I do not pretend to have all the answers, but I see an equally important role for women and men in the Bible.  The problem comes with application.  Many women are no longer in submission to their husbands or the leadership in churches.  They do not show respect for their husbands and the church elders.  This is why we have those who want to tell women to be silent in the church.  But just because women are not in submission, and men are allowing it, does not mean that women have no role to play in the Church.  On the contrary, obedient submissive women have a very important role in the Church as do men.  Evidence from history shows us that many have been saved and discipled by women, and many churches have been planted by them.  Prophecy has come forth for the Church through women, and will continue to do so as the Spirit leads and as women are living in submission to their husbands and to Christ.

Let’s go through the Word and note some very special things about the role of women in life and ministry.

MEN & WOMEN ARE MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD

Both men and women are made in the image of God, not just men.

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Matthew 19:4  "Haven’t you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator ’made them male and female,’
Mark 10:6  "But at the beginning of creation God ’made them male and female.’
GOD BLESSED BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, CALLING THEM "MAN"

Men and women, in general, are referred to as "man".  Notice that God calls men and women "man".  Therefore this is not a sexist term, but a godly one.

Genesis 5:2  He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man."
We can also learn from this that some things that pertain to "man" pertain to both men and women, whereas when men or women are specified it is talking about men and women specifically.  Here is an example where God is referencing both men and women as "men".
Ephesians 4:8  This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."
1 Timothy 2:4  who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
THE WOMAN WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE MAN

Women must always remember where they came from, where God took them from.

Genesis 2:23  The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ’woman, ’for she was taken out of man."
THE HEAD OF EVERY WOMAN IS THE MAN, THE HEAD OF EVERY WIFE IS THE HUSBAND

This verse is talking specifically about the husband and wife.  But in a larger sense the head of the man is Christ, the head of the woman is man.  The Bible teaches that Christ is the first head over man, the Christian husband the second head under Christ, with the elders of the church the third authority in the life of every Christian woman.

1 Corinthians 11:3  Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
EVE SINNED BEFORE ADAM AND ENTICED ADAM TO SIN
Genesis 3:6  When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Now let's look at some attributes of women from the Bible.

WOMEN ARE SERVANTS OF MEN AND GOD

Genesis 24:11  He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.
MEN AND WOMEN PLUNDERED THE EGYPTIANS TOGETHER
Exodus 11:2  Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold."
Exodus 3:22  Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians."
WOMEN WERE PROPHETESSES, BOTH GODLY AND UNGODLY
Exodus 15:20  Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.
Judges 4:4  Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
2 Kings 22:14  Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to speak to the prophetess Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District.
2 Chronicles 34:22  Hilkiah and those the king had sent with him went to speak to the prophetess Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District.
Nehemiah 6:14  Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, because of what they have done; remember also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who have been trying to intimidate me.
Isaiah 8:3  Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. And the LORD said to me, "Name him Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
Luke 2:36  There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
Revelation 2:20  Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
WOMEN PROPHESY (PREACH, TEACH, SPEAK GODS WORD) AND ARE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Anyone who prophesies can teach everyone in the body of Christ.  There is no gender specification on the gift of prophecy.

Acts 2:18  Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.*
1 Cor. 12:8-11  To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
"Prophesy" means to predict, foretell, declare, discourse, teach, refute, reprove, admonish, comfort, discharge the prophetic office.
Ephesians 4:11  It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
Women were prophets, thus they had to be teachers also.  Here is the definition of the word "prophesy" from Acts 2:18.

It is my belief that today prophesy comes through proper exegesis of the written Word of God through the Holy Spirit.  Paul said we are not to go beyond what is written.  The Bible is the highest and final revelation of truth.  It is God's Word that is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.  When the Word is being taught in context correctly, prophesy comes forth for the Church through the Holy Spirit and it convicts individual's hearts.  Any other word must square completely with the written Word or it is not to be accepted and that person must not be promoted or followed, but rebuked and rejected as a heretic till they repent.  For a woman to prophesy today would mean that she would have to be teaching the Word.

WOMEN WHO PROPHESY MUST HAVE THEIR HEAD "COVERED"

This implies that women do prophesy in the Church, but are to cover their heads as a sign of respect for God and their husbands.  Women do not cover their heads today as a cultural sign of respect, but there are other ways women should show respect culturally. The precept is that women must be humble and have the permission of their husbands and church leaders to teach or do anything else before the church assembly.

1 Corinthians 11:5  And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head— it is just as though her head were shaved.
1 Corinthians 11:6  If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.
1 Corinthians 11:8  For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
1 Corinthians 11:9  neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
1 Corinthians 11:10  For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.
1 Corinthians 11:11  In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.
1 Corinthians 11:12  For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
1 Corinthians 11:13  Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
1 Corinthians 11:15  but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.
MEN WHO PROPHESY SHOULD NOT "COVER" THEIR HEADS

Men have the direct headship authority from God to speak in church assemblies.  Men today do not cover their heads anymore as a cultural sign of respect, but they should be judged and tested by the leadership of the church under their authority.

1 Corinthians 11:7  A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.
MEN AND WOMEN FALSE PROPHETS WERE TO BE PUT TO DEATH

False prophets, male or female, must be judged.  If they are false we are to separate ourselves from them and not fear what they predict.

Leviticus 20:27  "‘A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.’"
Deuteronomy 18:22  If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
2 Peter 2:1  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them— bringing swift destruction on themselves.
1 John 4:1  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Matthew 7:15  "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Matthew 24:11  and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Matthew 24:24  For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect— if that were possible.
Mark 13:22  For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect— if that were possible.
BOTH MEN AND WOMEN COULD BE NAZARITES

This special designation for those who wanted to dedicate themselves fully to God was not closed to women.

Numbers 6:2  "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ’If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to the LORD as a Nazirite,
NEITHER MEN NOR WOMEN WERE TO BECOME PROSTITUTES
Deuteronomy 23:17  No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute.
BOTH MEN AND WOMEN BRING GIFTS TO THE LORD

God accepts gifts from men and women alike.

Exodus 35:22  All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.
Exodus 35:29  All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do.
LEVITE MEN WERE TO MARRY GOOD WOMEN
Leviticus 21:7  "‘They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God.
IN THE LAW, MEN AND WOMEN WERE NOT TO WEAR EACH OTHER'S CLOTHING.

What about women wearing pants today?  Isn't that against the Bible?  This is a good example of how we need to pull the good precepts from the Law of Moses and apply them but be aware of cultural differences today.  We are no longer tied by the Law but have freedom in Christ.  Women should dress modestly and in good taste, and so should men.  Men should not be wearing dresses and women should not be sporting buzz cuts, tattoos and acting like men.  This promotes homosexuality which the Bible clearly denounces as sin.  Perhaps this is a way to apply this truth to our cultural time period.  It would have been applied differently at different time periods through history.

Deuteronomy 22:5  A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.
FAITHFUL WOMEN WERE CALLED “BLESSED” IN THE BIBLE
Judges 5:24  "Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, most blessed of tent-dwelling women.
Luke 2:34  Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
WOMEN WERE MENTIONED IN THE GENEALOGY OF DAVID & JESUS
Ruth 4:17  The women living there said, "Naomi has a son." And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Matt. 1:5  Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,
Matt. 1:16  and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
WOMEN SANG AND DANCED BEFORE THE LORD
1 Samuel 18:6  When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes.
2 Chronicles 35:25  Jeremiah composed laments for Josiah, and to this day all the men and women singers commemorate Josiah in the laments. These became a tradition in Israel and are written in the Laments.
Ezra 2:65  besides their 7,337 menservants and maidservants; and they also had 200 men and women singers.
Nehemiah 7:67  besides their 7,337 menservants and maidservants; and they also had 245 men and women singers.
Nehemiah 12:43  And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.
WOMEN WERE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE LAW

Not only men understand God's laws, but women also.

Nehemiah 8:2  So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand.
WOMEN CAN CAUSE MEN TO SIN – AND VICE VERSA

Eve surely tempted Adam to sin.  But wasn't it Adam's responsibility to lead?  Whose fault is it that sin corrupted mankind?  The Bible lays the blame on Adam because he was the one in authority over the woman.  I am tired of hearing so many men get all bent out of shape at many things going wrong in the Church, blaming women who are not under authority.  But the real blame goes to husbands and Christian leaders who are not taking a biblical authority position with their wives.  But blame for sin in the world and in the church can be laid at the feet of both men and women alike.

1 Kings 11:1  King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter— Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.
Nehemiah 13:26  Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women.
Ezekiel 16:41  They will burn down your houses and inflict punishment on you in the sight of many women. I will put a stop to your prostitution, and you will no longer pay your lovers.
Luke 17:1-2  Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
MEN AND WOMEN WHO SIN ARE GUILTY BY THE SAME MEASURE

Men and women will have to answer for their own sins, both here and in eternity.

Numbers 5:6  "Say to the Israelites: ’When a man or woman wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the LORD, that person is guilty
FEMALES IN GOVERNMENTAL POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY SAVED MANY JEWS BY THEIR WISDOM AND FAITHFULNESS TO GOD

Esther saved her people by being faithful to God.

Esther 8:11  The king’s edict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate any armed force of any nationality or province that might attack them and their women and children; and to plunder the property of their enemies.
WOMEN DO NOBLE THINGS
Proverbs 31:29  "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
SOME WOMEN HAVE GREAT FAITH
Matthew 15:28  Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
SOME WOMEN ARE GREAT WORSHIPPERS
Matthew 26:10  Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
Mark 14:3  While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
BUT WHEN WOMEN RULE OVER MEN IT ALMOST ALWAYS HAS DISASTROUS CONSEQUENCES
Isaiah 3:12  Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.
WOMEN CAN ALSO BE ENTICERS OR ENTICED TO EVIL
Isaiah 3:16  The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles.
Acts 13:50  But the Jews incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.
WOMEN AS TEACHERS OF OTHER WOMEN

Women are obviously called to teach their children and other younger women first, just like men should teach their sons and younger men.

Jeremiah 9:20  Now, O women, hear the word of the LORD; open your ears to the words of his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail; teach one another a lament.
Titus 2:4  Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
Notice that older women can teach.
Titus 2:3  Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
WOMEN DO SOMETIMES HAVE A TENDENCY TO TURN TO FEMALE FALSE GODS
Jeremiah 44:19  The women added, "When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes like her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?"
Ezekiel 13:18  and say, ’This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own?
Daniel 11:37  He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.
FOR TRUE BELIEVERS, THE HOLY SPIRIT IS POURED OUT ON MEN AND WOMEN ALIKE
Joel 2:29  Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
MEN AND WOMEN ARE ONE IN CHRIST

Everyone who is in Christ is in the unity of the Spirit. There are no more divisions as in the Old Testament between nationalities, slaves and masters, male and female.  All have equal access to the Christ and all are one in Christ.

Galatians 3:28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
OLD MEN AND WOMEN WILL SOMEDAY SIT IN THE STREETS OF THE CITY

Notice that old men and old women will sit in the streets.  It was in the streets and at the gate where elders taught the younger people and gave counsel.

Zechariah 8:4  This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with cane in hand because of his age.
WOMEN WERE THE MAIN SUPPORT OF JESUS’ MINISTRY

This certainly covers the gifts of helps and administration, as well as other gifts.

Matthew 27:55  Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.
Mark 15:41  In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
Luke 8:3  Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.
WOMEN WERE THE FIRST TO SEE THE RISEN LORD AND TALK TO HIM
Matthew 28:8  So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
Luke 24:5  In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?
MARY WAS THE MOST BLESSED AMONG WOMEN
Luke 1:42  In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!
WOMEN JOIN IN PRAYER WITH MEN

Why is it that today the job of praying is often given over to the women?  It is because men have dropped the ball in many ways.  Yet to pray is far more difficult than to get up and preach from a pulpit.

Acts 1:14  They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
MEN AND WOMEN WERE WATER BAPTIZED
Acts 8:12  But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
BOTH MEN AND WOMEN WERE CALLED FOLLOWERS OF PAUL
Acts 17:34  A few men became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.
BELIEVING WOMEN WERE PROMINENT IN THE CHURCH AND COMMUNITY
Acts 17:4  Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and not a few prominent women.
WOMEN WORKED HARD FOR THE LORD

It is sad but true that often women work harder for the Lord than men.  This was true even in biblical times.

Romans 16:12  Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.
WIVES (NOT ALL WOMEN) ARE TO KEEP SILENT IN CHURCH

They were to keep silent in the church and not cause disorder, but to ask their husbands questions at home.  The word for "women" is the same as the word for "wife".

1 Cor. 14:33-35  For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
Let's look at the word translated as "woman".

135 gunh gune goo-nay’
probably from the base of 1096; TDNT-1:776,134; n f
AV-women 129, wife 92; 221

1) a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow
2) a wife
2a) of a betrothed woman

"Gune" can be used both generally as "woman" or specifically as "wife". In this context it is clear that it is specifically referring to married women, wives.  Note that the same word "gune" is used in the following passages.

1 Timothy 2:11  A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
1 Timothy 2:12  I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
Paul does not permit, but does God?  We have to delineate between Paul’s preferences and hopes and precepts of God.  But assuming this is a precept of God, we must also look at context. According to the definition of a “prophet” apparently God does allow women to teach in church.  Let’s look at the words for “woman” and “man” in this verse also.  The word for “women” is "gune" as above, either woman or wife.  The word for “man” is "aner".

435 aner aner an’-ayr
a primary word cf 444; TDNT-1:360,59; n m
AV-man 156, husband 50, sir 6, fellow 1, not tr 2; 215

1) with reference to sex
1a) of a male
1b) of a husband
1c) of a betrothed or future husband
2) with reference to age, and to distinguish an adult man from a boy
3) any male
4) used generically of a group of both men and women

So “man” could be referring to men in general or specifically the husband of a wife.  Let’s look at the context of the verses.

11  A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
A woman is clearly in submission to her husband and to Christ, not to other men first.  Therefore this verse is talking about wives and husbands.  The above verses should have been rendered "wives" and "husbands" and not "woman" and "men".  Let's look further at the context to discover this fact.
1 Tim. 2:13-3:2  For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing— if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
Again the context is wives and husbands.  Adam was betrothed to Eve by God.  Only wives are to have children.  An overseer is to have one wife.  So Paul is not saying that women cannot teach men, but that wives should not be talking out of turn in church, embarrassing their husbands and showing disrespect to them. The main purpose for Paul saying that wives should be silent in the churches was that they were causing disruption and disorder in the churches, which is what Paul had addressed a number of times already.
1 Corinthians 14:33  For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,
1 Corinthians 14:40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
Colossians 2:5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
2 Corinthians 12:20 For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.
In the end analysis, if a woman has the “covering” of both her husband and those in authority in the local church, then she is free to teach.

WOMEN SHOULD DRESS MODESTLY

These directions were given to women in another time and culture.  But modesty is a precept good for all time. I personally don't appreciate it when women, especially married women, wear tight clothing with low-cut necklines, and other immodest wear.  Each husband should help his wife to wear appropriate clothing rather than having legalistic clothing rules.  Young women should be advised, as should all, that they should be aware of their witness before others.

1 Timothy 2:9  I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
WOMEN WILL BE SANCTIFIED THROUGH CHILDBEARING
Genesis 3:16  To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
1 Timothy 2:15  But women will be saved through childbearing— if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
The only way to salvation is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and continue to believe, commit to that belief, continue in faith.  The way a woman will be helped to continue in faith is through birth and raising children.

RIGHTEOUS WOMEN MARRIED TO GODLY MEN ARE TO BE RESPECTABLE, AND IF SO, RESPECTED

1 Timothy 3:11  In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
HOLY WOMEN ARE SUBMISSIVE TO THEIR HUSBANDS
1 Peter 3:5  For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands,
If men were exercising true biblical authority over their daughters and wives in love, the debate over the role of women in the Church would not be such an issue. If women today were submissive to their husbands, we would not have many of the problems we have today in the Church.
