As stated in the introduction of this review Zealot presents nothing new or shocking. It is the standard rhetoric of liberal theologians for the past 300 years. The only reasons for conservative Christians to read such a book are to get a clear presentation of liberal theology and to be aware of what many, perhaps some in their own churches, are reading. Even here, most would not need to read all 300 plus pages. Everything the author is going to say is found in the "Author's Note" and "Introduction" which amounts to 14 pages. All subsequent material is merely embellishing these introductory sections.

Pope Francis Rejects God's Word Again

The pope said there is no such thing as an "absolute truth" if that means a truth can stand by itself "without any relationship." This postmodern pope is echoing the emerging church and contemplative spirituality - a theology that the devil is using to rebuild the tower of Babel under the papacy. The pope's remark is so deceptive because there is absolute truth and it is found in Christ and His Word. Jesus said, "I am the truth" and "thy Word is truth" (John 14:6; 17:17). The Lord Jesus came to testify to the truth and everyone who is of the truth listens to Him (John 18:37). Clearly, the pope is not abiding in the Word of Christ and he remains in bondage to religious deception (John 8:31-32).

With promotional events like "Wine and theology evenings" and "Beer and barbeque" church services, congregants of New Zealand's dying Presbyterian Church are now embracing alcohol as an evangelism tool to attract more members and increase their bottom line according to a new study coming out of that country. Highlighting new research by religion expert, Dr. Geoff Troughton of Victoria University of Wellington, in a Medical Xpress report on Tuesday, revealed that the Presbyterian Church's anti-alcohol campaign had slacked off radically since the 1990s to shore up their bottom line and attract more people to the dying church. "Some churches are now experimenting with using alcohol as an evangelization tool. Rather than seeing alcohol consumption as a marker of secular culture in need of change, it has become part of efforts to promote Christianity. 'Wine and theology' evenings and 'beer and barbeque' church services are among the methods being explored," said Troughton in the report.
