From Church To Emerging Church DVD
Series
by Sandy Simpson
The issue of the Emerging Church and it's introduction into many
churches
and mission organizations has reached a critical point. Many do not
undersand what is being leavened into churches by the EC leadership. Many would be shocked to know their belief systems involve Universalism,
New Age, defense of postmodernism, Interfaithism, and many other false
doctrines. In order to reach out to this generation the EC leadership
is proposing a whole new "map" to deal with what they perceive is a lack
of understanding on the part of the churches on how to communicate. EC proponants believe the "scripture" for today is evolving and must
change
in order to reach postmoderns.

When Media Spotlight began
in 1977, we were the first ministry on a national scale
to specifically address the ungodly nature of the secular
media, particularly in motion pictures, television, toys,
games, and myriad other problems that contribute to
Christians living no differently than the rest of the
world. The mass media have impacted the Body
of Christ as much as they have society. Many Christians
are so dependent upon the media that they aren't aware of
how lukewarm they have become. We have many testimonies
from readers who tell us that, because of Media
Spotlight, they have become aware of the effect the media
have on their thinking, and are now more selective in
their choices. But the problem of ungodliness is not
exclusive to the secular media. One of our major concerns
is the religious media which present messages contrary to
God's Word. Media Spotlight addresses the impact that
religious teachers have upon the believer, for good as
well as for evil. It has escaped the understanding of
many Christians that what they believe is more often
shaped by the teachings and traditions of religious men
than by Scripture. Yet the wisdom of the world is no
substitute for God's Word, even if offered from the
pulpit or in the Christian media. Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:12 that in the last days the
love of many toward Him would grow cold because evil
would increase in the world. There is little time to
waste in the short span of life granted us by God. We
must choose today whom we will serve.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 28, Issue 6
|
Dear All,
In so many ways many churches and Christian organizations are unfortunately facilitating a departing from the faith by letting false brethren in. Timothy was instructed by Paul to turn away from false ideas. 1 Tim. 6:20-21 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.Yet many believers today think they can listen to a false teacher and separate the meat from the bones. That is not Biblical. Unless you have been taught how to discern you are not equipped to eat at a heretic's table because you will likely ingest the good and the bad. False teaching is identified in the Bible not as something that is entirely false, but as error laid alongside truth. That is the mark of the enemy and those who willingly or unwillingly serve him. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Beyond
a Doubt: Contemplative Spirituality = New Age Movement | by Ray Yungen,
5/18/10
Before writing my book, A Time of Departing, I made sure I could
prove, beyond a doubt, that contemplative prayer had not only slipped
into
the Christian faith, but also prove it is an integral part of the New
Age
movement.

The
New
Apostolic Reformation
| CrossTalk, Host: Ingrid Schlueter, Guest: Sarah Leslie, 5/3/10
Sarah Leslie is an author and researcher, a
member of the board
of directors of Discernment Ministries and also a member of the
Discernment
Research Group. In response to the May Day event held this past Saturday
at the Lincoln Memorial, Ingrid and Sarah brought to listener attention
a movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation. This title was coined
by C. Peter Wagner during the 1990's. Featuring teachers such as Dutch
Sheets, Cindy Jacobs and false prophetess Stacy Campbell, the New
Apostolic
Reformation is centered around a theology of dominionism. It teaches
that
Christians can take down demonic spirits in order to take back
territories
and institutions for Christ. The movement is post-millennial believing
that Jesus will not return until Christians take over the 7 Mountains.
These "mountains" are institutions like the media, entertainment, the
economy,
etc. In other words, their eschatology requires that instead of reaching
people with the gospel one heart at a time, they believe they are to
conquer
the earth one demonic spirit at a time and make the earth perfect so
that
Jesus can return.

Crazy
Love - Book Review
| by Francis Chan Reviewed by Gary Gilley
In Crazy Love Francis Chan attempts to motivate Christians to
action. This is great but surely we are to be motivated by biblical
instructions rather than random diatribes. If you need a challenge I
recommend David Well's Dare to Be Protestant or Michael
Horton's The Gospel-Driven Life, and leave Crazy Love
on the shelf.

On
Emergent Church leaders calling
apologetics and discernment ministries "Online Discernment Ministries"
(ODM)
| by Sandy Simpson, 5/14/10 It does not surprise me at all that prominent Emergent Church (EC)
leadership and others associated with that movement would use name
calling
as a way to try to shut up opposition to their false teachings. This
is typical for Christian liberals. Rather than answer to what they
have been writing in their books and teaching on in public for years,
they
resort to name calling. The term they are using lately is ODM meaning
online discernment ministries. They use that term in a disparaging
way but the term itself shows that they do not know how to do research
and are not interested in the facts about many apologetics ministries.
