| Critical Issues CommentaryCritical Issues Commentary is not so much a "newsletter" as it is a
series of carefully researched essays on important theological issues.
Since 1992 more than 80 articles covering more than 60 specific
"critical issues" have been published. Each article contains Biblical
exegesis as well as interaction with famous teachers and teachings. Our
prayer is that God uses this effort to help readers grow in their faith
and be strong in their witness. Critical Issues Commentary
was founded to help people find their way out of unbiblical teachings
that confused their understanding of the faith.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 27, Issue 3

Dear All,
Legalism and liberalism are still two ideologies that plague the Church. Paul dealt with the issue of legalism when he wrote to the Galatians and you can extrapolate from his topic of circumcision to a number of other works salvation issues of today. The two opposite errors of liberalism and
legalism continue today and they are errors we must be constantly on guard
against so we do not fall either way.
Unfortunately in our time things are even worse as some false teachers
are combining both legalism and liberalism in an even more deadly mix. Whether or not they do so understanding what
they are doing is not as important to realize as the fact that the enemy knows
human weakness. He knows that both
liberalism and legalism appeal to our sin nature.
We continue to be in need of your help financially. Please consider ordering one of our products or making a donation.

The
Quantum Christ: Entering the World AND the Church Through Popular New Age
& Christian Leaders
|
by Warren B. Smith, 2/17/10
The New Age/New Spirituality is already heralding quantum physics as a
"scientific" basis for their contention that God is not only
transcendent but also immanent-"in" everyone and everything. Physicist
Fritjof Capra's 1975 best-selling book on quantum physics-The Tao of Physics: An Exploration of the Parallels between Modern Physics and Eastern Mysticism-was the first to present this proposed scientific/spiritual model to a mass audience.

Many Believers in SA are Jumping on the Bandwagon of Dominionism
|
by Prof. Johan Malan, Mossel Bay, RSA (Feb.
2010)
Christians are increasingly mobilised towards
efforts of controlling and reforming the world by reminding them of their
long-forgotten dominion mandate. This is particularly the case in the US and
South Africa from where the global Transformations Movement is orchestrated. Disciples
of Christ have allegedly, like believers in the Old Testament, neglected their biblical
mandate to rule over the world and are now held directly responsible for the serious
moral and spiritual crisis in which the world finds itself.

by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason
Ministries, 1/10 Most have not listened carefully or long enough to hear (Joel) Osteen's
heresy by Osteen. But give him time and those word faith statements will
become apparent. In my opinion, if you have listened often enough you have
heard nearly all the subject matter he conveys. He says the same type of
message in different ways, or maybe it's his voice and delivery that makes
it all sound the same. At best, one gets milk from him; at worst they get
positive thinking and word faith heresies. A pastor is called to feed the
flock the whole counsel of God- from Genesis to Revelation. Unfortunately,
people will interpret his soft-spoken manner as exhibiting a Christ-like
spirit and ignore the non-Biblical content expressed, which has been traded
in for a motivational spiritual pep talk. Again his fantasy of Jesus going
to hell and being under the power of Satan is no small teaching to ignore.
It deals with the gospel itself, the nature of Jesus, which does not qualify
him as a good teacher or minister by any Biblical standard. It is another
gospel.

Study In Galatians
|
by Sandy Simpson 2/17/10 The letter to the Galatians mainly deals with
the issue of legalism. We have studied
1 & 2 Corinthians, which addresses a number of issues having to do with
liberalism. Legalism and liberalism are
two errors often on opposite ends of Christianity. Legalism is the error of adding requirements to Christianity or
the Scripture; liberalism is the error of taking away from Scripture. As we know from the Bible, we are not to add
or take away from what is written.
